Hi -

I'm Sandra Tanner, and I'm on the dance faculty at College of Marin.  As you will notice, I've posted 2 auditions/choreographic opportunities on the Audition forum.

Do you have a forum for posting an announcement about the fall dance class schedule at College of Marin?  I believe this would be a great service to the BAy Area dance community, as we offer VERY low cost, yet high quality dance classes WITH the opportunity to earn college credit to UC/CSU.

Thanks so much, I'll look forward to your reply!
Sincerely,
Sandra Tanner (Mack) stmack@pacbell.net or cell: 415-717-8395

We are currently working on a feature for posting class schedules, much like you suggest. If you have any ideas for how this feature should work, we would greatly value your input.

HI Rob -  Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!  Would it be possible to simply add a catagory in the "forums" that would be titled something like, "Dance Classes in the SF Bay Area"?  Then folks could post their announcement with a hyperlink to access their school, college of studios class schedule.

LEt me know what your thoughts are.

Hi Sandra,

I think you're right.  COM offers low-cost dance classes that would be a great opportunity for many people.  We have a local class finder on the site and we are looking to make it more prominent so people can see it on the home page more easily.  Right now, it's sitting on the left side of the page in the Global Dance Directory with the title "Dance Classes Near You."  Did you see it on the site?  If you go there, you can enter a zip code and see what classes are in your geographical area.  On our old site, the class finder was more visual and easier  to see so I can see why it might be missed. You can get COM classes into the directory with a basic listing that is free.

Feel free to tout the benefits of COM in the forums, though, as well.  This is the place to share that kind of information.  I'm hesitant to create a board just for classes, however, because we reach such a wide geographical area, we might have boards for every city.  This is the reason for the local class finder - to help people weed out what classes are near them from the hundreds and thousands of entries.  You could, however, make a new topic in the General forum that says, "Dance Classes in the Bay Area" because the forums are made for and by people like you!

I hope this helped!  We're always willing to discuss new ideas and please feel free to give us feedback about the site.  It's always a work in progress!

Hi Janet -

Thanks for your great suggestions.  As you can see, I did go ahead and post to the General Topic forum.  I will discuss your suggestion to create a listing that will be more visible in your "Dance Classes Near You" section with my colleagues.
