Noted by The Hub Review as "staking out a prominent piece of territory on the local dance map in its first program," Urbanity Dance Project is a contemporary dance company celebrating its second season of bringing dance to Boston with jazz, contemporary and ballet-based works.
What are we looking for? Urbanity Dance is looking for a few new company dancers for the 09-10 season, men and women who show strength in ballet, jazz, and/or modern genres. Within those genres, we will be looking for extensions, leaps, turns, musicality and performance expression. In general, we are looking for dancers who have strong technical training, who are eager to commit to the technical, emotional and performance aspects of energized choreographers. We're looking for people who can share our vision of bringing dance to the Boston community. We are casting for two mixed-rep shows, mid-February and April 30-May 1, 2010.
After much success, we will continue to build an apprentice program for students ages 16-18 who are interested in building their dance resume and gain experience dancing in a company. Students interested in the program should plan to attend the August 23rd audition. Rehearsals for apprentices are Sundays. The apprentice program is a great opportunity for young dancers to build their dance resume and gain experience learning contemporary repertory.
